Lots going on in scorching Socal this week.
- I went ahead and bought finish line tickets for the 2027 Derby. Crazy prices, but…WTF, not getting any younger. Might as well do it while we can enjoy it.
- Finished my outdoor Wifi experiment, and the Chinese solar/battery repeater works just fine. Mounting it on a repurposed sprinkler tripod today. Very cool solution.
- Cleaned out the garage, got rid of some old stuff and made room for my new Billy Goat. Our driveway stays covered with leaves, dust, seeds, and small branches, and I’m tired of using a damn blower to push the stuff around. The blower takes forever (multiple passes) to do the job, while the Billy Goat just vacuums it up in one pass. Great machine, and I was lucky to find one – CA doesn’t like two-cycle small engines, so many places won’t sell them to a CA address.
- I’ll spend a lot of time this weekend watching the Tour Championship – the official end of the pro golf season. Too hot to play right now, so TV will have to do.
- There are a couple of short story writing contests I’ll send an entry to this weekend. It’s not the same as sitting down and writing, but it’s motivation. And a good use of stories already written.
And while all that’s going on, the Moron-in-Chief continues his quest to ruin America. His latest dumbfuck move – today he signed an executive order to change the name of Lake Ontario to Lake America. I can’t stand it. My vote was to change it to Lake Epstein.
Title photo features a few of the many, many hummers getting a drink from the feeders on our deck. The heat just seems to energize them.
