O Canada

So now we’re at war with Canada. An economic war, but a war nonetheless. Canada, for fuck’s sake – the nicest, most polite people on the planet. Now where will we flee if/when democracy falls in the US and we’re forced to live in a real-life Gilead?

This is just wrong. How anyone in the military can support Convict Donny is a mystery to me. Over and over, he demonstrates that he disrespects the military and their service. I hope the entire US Lincoln complement of sailors realize who’s to blame, and vote accordingly.

Between the NIMBY backlash against data center construction and the obviously unsustainable circular financing of AI model developers, I think the AI bubble will burst, soonish. Mid-2027 sounds about right. Definitely time to rethink your stock portfolio. The Guardian agrees with me – a day of financial reckoning is coming for the US. Once again, everything Trump touches dies.

Our little Socal town of Fallbrook is up in arms about a new electric transmission line proposed by my old employer, SDG&E. I would certainly prefer that SDG&E invest a few billion in battery storage to strengthen the grid, but they *do* love building transmission lines. The line is probably inevitable – CA utilities tend to get what they want.

Explain it to me like I’m ten years old – great advice for anyone who wants to be sure they understand a subject. If you can’t explain it simply, you probably don’t understand it.

My side project this week is fixing/strengthening the CA property’s outdoor video security system. I’m updating all the outdoor cameras and adding a new Wifi router/extender, the WAVLINK AX-1800. Some good tech in this little system. I’m not naming the camera brand to make it a little harder for any hackers who decide to try and break in.
