I’ve had a fairly active first week of October week for a recliner-loving septuagenarian. Biked 56 miles through The Parklands. Played 36 holes of golf, 18 of them walking and carrying. A hard day of walking (well, shuffling and bumping) at the St James Art Fair. Some yard work. All in, I’m feeling stronger, though my left knee says “enough, already”. When it’s this nice outside, it’s easy to get out and stay active.
I have some tough-ish home improvement projects queued up for the next two weeks. I’m going to put an extra pane of glass (plexiglass) on the outside of the new basement windows, in hope of it staying warmer in the basement. And I’m going to reconfigure the shed overhang out back so that I can park my Jeep there when I’m gone. That includes cutting some encroaching bushes down so I can drive between the houses and reach the shed. So a lot to do. Between that, golf, and spending time with the kids, it should be a great couple of weeks. I love October.
K is on her way back to Socal. She’ll get a hot day or day and a half at the end of the epic heat wave, but then it’s supposed to rain 2-3 inches. Weird. October in Socal is historically the worst month, and this one has lived up to that rep so far.
