Summertime

For once I picked the right place to be, weather-wise. It’s *hot* in Louisville, and I’m enjoying breezy high 70s weather in Socal. I just hope my thermostat settings and AC in the Louisville house work to keep the house from being a pressure cooker. I’ll know next week. But the tomatoes should be happy.

There’s a lot of news in the world, almost all of it bad, so I won’t bother with a recap. Convict Donny’s frantic, weird attempts to drum up support for a Nobel Peace Prize (seriously?) and to distract everyone from the illegal shitshow that ICE is spreading across America are increasingly entertaining. Donny is panicked, and his late-night social media posts show it. Deranged babbling by a narcissist sociopath – very Presidential.

Looking ahead, there’s quite a bit of goodness on the calendar this summer:

  • Front-row seats for Jackson Browne at the beautiful Chateau St Michelle winery in Woodinville WA
  • 4th of July fireworks in KY
  • A birthday week get-together with all of my brothers (a rare event)
  • A little over a week roaming around in Costa Rica, a place I’ve always wanted to visit
  • A CA visit by my buddy Jon
  • And at the end of summer, Jon and I will play in our last Tchefuncta member-guest tourney – he’s relocating to AZ (!?!?), so he’s leaving the NOLA club

So a lot to look forward to. I hope I can fit a creative writing restart in there somewhere. As for the title photo, have a giraffe.
