Invested

It feels great to get more and more invested in my home state of Kentucky. When I look at the whole picture, I’m really invested – financially and emotionally – in the state. Those investments include:

  • All the family members based here – several generations of my immediate family, plus the resultant cousins, nieces and nephews.
  • We own a few rental properties in Louisville.
  • We own a home in the beautiful Crescent Hill/Frankfort Ave area.
  • I don’t often have a chance to mention it, but I’m a bona fide Kentucky Colonel; have been for many years.
  • My undergraduate engineering degree is from the University of KY.
  • In 2024 I became a UK men’s basketball season ticket holder – a lifelong dream.
  • I’m a minority partner in a Louisville rental car business (Kinetic Rentals, a Turo business).

And now I have one more cool investment in Kentucky culture – we now own a racehorse! To be precise, we own a share of a syndicate that will buy thoroughbred brood mares in order to sell their foals in a couple of years. The thoroughbred syndicate is run by Hermitage Farm, and the mares and foals will be kept there, where we can go and gaze on them and then have a great meal at Barn8. You can’t get more Kentucky than that.
