Step aside, Senator – no free speech for you

I’ve been busy today – a couple of business meetings, and watching some US Open footage from Oakmont.

Even so, the ongoing overthrow of the US democracy elbowed its way in to my attention. This happened:

In a stunning and unprecedented development, U.S. Senator Alex Padilla (D-CA) was forcibly removed from a Department of Homeland Security press conference led by DHS Secretary Kristi Noem in Los Angeles today. According to the video, Padilla was also detained by law enforcement during the incident, even if temporarily.

So much for free speech. Then there’s this headline, from Politico:

Hegseth won’t commit to obeying courts on Marines in Los Angeles

They’ve stopped pretending. The law is what the MAGA administration says it is, and even then it only applies to “the little people”. Not them.

What’s it going to take for the courts and citizens to say “Enough!”? This routine, now universal ignoring the law by Convict Donnie’s administration is destructive. Dangerous. Inflammatory.

This weekend is shaping up to be pivotal.
