As my daughter so aptly put it, I’m having a National Geographic week. Animals everywhere. So far this week I’ve encountered:
- The largest snapping turtle I’ve ever seen, cruising Beargrass Creek
- A huge groundhog in my backyard (missed getting a picture by seconds)
- A large bull snake down on the Rough River
- A beautiful (and big) green turtle crossing the road, also in the Rough River area
- Our local
chucacabrared fox, right outside the house - A lesser-known raptor, a kite, also on Beargrass Creek
- The usual glut of squirrels, rabbits, and cardinals
- Cicadas, pretty much everywhere
That’s a solid list. Who knows what else I’ll see in the next couple of weeks.
