As this guy points out, climate is complex. Calling this year’s heat wave a direct result of human-induced climate change is…lazy. Probably wrong. And looking at the data, what the hell happened in the 1930s? Yikes.

This is ominous. Horrifying. Not sure why there isn’t more press about this. Is a birdless world even viable?

It’s been almost a month since my initial kidney stone attack, the inciting event of this lingering illness. And today is the last day of my self-administered IV antibiotics. Tomorrow starts the next and hopefully final phase of infection recovery with a final nuclear-option ABX infusion at the clinic and then the removal of my IV port. What a long, strange month it’s been. And I still have kidney stone removal to look forward to, post-Africa.

Something large fell and crashed on the property last night, the boom waking me at 230am. Probably a eucalyptus tree or branch – they have a tendency to crack and crash during periods of heat. Just hope it didn’t break anything important, like our rock walls or the RV. Or the guest house.

And Rory McIlroy wins the Scottish Open with birdies on the two final holes. Must’ve been a great finish, but I couldn’t find it on TV.
